Water Department

Brownsville’s water utility was constructed in 1948, eliminating the need for individual wells for each home. The water provided to the customers is entirely groundwater. There are two wells in the Village, but only one is used to supply water to customers. The other is reserved for emergency purposes only. The water is treated for radium and corrosion control and is chlorinated as well. There is one water tower and one ground reservoir with a total combined storage capacity of 120,000 gallons of water. The utility also maintains about 3.5 miles of water main that connects 61 fire hydrants and serves 293 customers. In, 2011, the water utility pumped 26 million gallons of water.
If you want to find ways to save water (and money!!) click HERE for an interesting calculator developed by UW-Extension of Stevens Point. It will give you the cost of using our water in 2011and the savings possible by using new technology.

Rate Increase for 2017
The Brownsville Water Utility completed a full water rate study with Village Auditor's, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause.  As a result of this rate study an application was made with the PSC of WI to increase water rates.  The Final Decision is linked HERE (it includes the rates to be implemented 3-31-2017).  A copy is also available in the clerk's office, contact her at 920-583-4087 or vobclerk@plbb.us

The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin oversees the Village's Water Utility. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is concerned about clean drinking water as well. Hand in hand they have certain requirements that must be met by the utility that are done in customers homes. Namely, meter change outs and cross-connection inspections. Both these services are free to customers and must be completed to maintain good standing with each governing agency.

The Caucus for two trustee positions and village president of the Village Board is set for the night of Jan. 9th @ 6:00. The posistions held by Trustee Kemmel, and Trustee Westphal, Village President Bloohm are up for re-election. Those interested in..
