Brownsville Fire Company, Inc.





The Brownsville fire Company was incorporated in 1912 as a non-stock, not for profit corporation, to protect the Brownsville community from fire.

At the time of organization, the company took over the equipment of the disbanded Brownsville Hook & Ladder company, which had been serving the Brownsville area since 1891. A used fire engine was purchased from Chicago, it was a Goose Neck Pumper.

Today, the 30 active firefighters operate six pieces of apparatus consisting of a 2008 Pierce 1500 GPM Engine, 1987 Pierce 1500 GPM Engine, 1964 100 ft. American La France Quint refurbished in 1989, a 1996 3-D 250 GPM First responder truck, a 1991 Ford 3500 gallon tanker and a 2011 Freightliner 3000 gallon tanker.

The Brownsville Fire Company operates a First Company operates a First Responder unit consisting of 15 active members, the unit is defibrillator certified. The Fire Company also operates a “Jaws of Life”. A thermal imaging camera was added in 2001.
